SUMMER SONIC is an annual two-to-three day music festival that takes place simultaneously in Tokyo and Osaka. Uniquely, the festival is known for its drawing of major top level international talent each year, with past installments featuring diverse acts such as Green Day, Linkin Park, Beyonce, Sum 41, Stevie Wonder, Avril Lavigne, Rihanna, Franz Ferdinand, Nelly Furtado, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jay-Z, Slash, and Taylor Swift. Japanese acts are also invited to perform, with B'z occasionally performing both as a band and as part of their solo efforts. Their last appearance at the festival came during SUMMER SONIC 09.
