Unlike most Japanese music acts that rely on it heavily, B'z have made only relatively infrequent appearances on television. Nearly all come around the time of the band's single or album releases, on which they perform the single in question, or less frequently its B-side or an album song. Occasionally, the band dip into their back catalogue to perform well-known classics, especially in instances in which the band have a multi-song set.

To date, most of the band's singles have been performed on television. Those that have not are "Mienai Chikara ~INVISIBLE ONE~/MOVE", "May", "BANZAI", "BURN -Fumetsu no Face-", "DIVE", "MY LONELY TOWN", "Don't Wanna Lie", and "GO FOR IT, BABY -Kioku no Sanmyaku-". The band's 1993 single "Hadashi no Megami" initially went unperformed on television, but finally received a performance upon fan request during the Music Station B'z 25th Anniversary Special. Notably, two songs—"Kesshou" and "Shoushin"—have been performed here on television but not during the band's LIVE-GYM tours. The song most performed by the band on television is "Ai no Bakudan", having been performed over the airwaves a total of ten times since its debut in 2005. The most recent performance of the song on television came during the Music Station SUPER LIVE 2012 in which it was coupled with "Ichibu to Zenbu".

Most of the band's appearances on television in which they provide a live performance are also accompanied by a brief interview beforehand, such as their many appearances on Music Station. The show, hosted since 1989 by Japanese celebrity personality Tamori, is where the band feel most at-home on television, having made over fifty appearances on the program since their first in May of 1990.
